They discuss the mismatch between their personal experiences of Africa, and the perceptions that many people in Europe have of Africa.
They also discuss their ambivalent relationship to museums as locations responsible for the creation of those stereotypes, as well as the ways in which museums identify objects as ‘African’.
The episode sets out ambitions for the podcast as a digital space where the conversation around objects from Africa can be expanded – in, about and beyond the museum.
